Germany welcomes agreement on disarmament of Hamas and armed factions in Gaza

Berlin, July 31 (KUNA) -- German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefohl welcomed today, Friday, the announced agreement on the disarmament of Hamas and other armed factions in the Gaza Strip, describing it as a significant step toward achieving stability and peace in the region. In a press statement, Wadefohl emphasized that the priority is the effective implementation of the agreement and ensuring that Hamas does not pose a threat in the future, adding that Germany stands ready to support the residents of the Gaza Strip through humanitarian aid and by contributing to reconstruction efforts.

Earlier, on Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that the Gaza Peace Council had reached what he described as a “historic agreement” for the disarmament of the Palestinian Hamas movement and all other armed groups in Gaza. Trump stated in a post on the Truth Social platform that “this agreement represents a highly important step toward finally bringing Gaza under the control of a new Palestinian government that will work in close cooperation with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people.” (End) A.N.J. / M.K.
