European Commission: More than 180 organizations have signed the AI Transparency Code

Brussels, July 31 (KUNA) -- The European Commission said on Friday that more than 180 organizations have signed a code of practice on transparency for AI-generated content, ahead of the application of the new European AI Act rules and transparency requirements on August 2 next. The Commission added in a statement that the code puts transparency rules for AI-generated content into effect as the Commission, through its AI Office and in cooperation with national authorities, begins implementing the AI Act rules. It clarified that, under the new rules, chatbots and other interactive AI systems will be required to inform users that they are interacting with an AI system and not a real person. It also noted that deepfake content, including images, videos, and audio recordings that have been altered or generated using AI, must be labeled. Furthermore, content created or modified by AI must carry machine-readable labels to facilitate its detection. The Commission emphasized that these measures aim to reduce misinformation and manipulation, help people make informed decisions, and provide companies with clearer obligations and a practical means to demonstrate compliance with the rules.
