Annual inflation rate in the euro area rises to 2.9% in July

Brussels, July 31 (KUNA) -- Preliminary data released by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat) on Friday showed that the annual inflation rate in the euro area rose to 2.9 percent in July 2026, compared with 2.8 percent in June. The data, issued by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, indicated that the energy sector recorded the highest annual inflation rate in July at 10.0 percent, up from 8.5 percent in June. It added that the services sector followed with a rate of 3.3 percent, compared with 3.2 percent, while food, tobacco, and alcohol registered 1.2 percent, compared with 1.5 percent, and non-energy industrial goods stood at 0.9 percent, compared with 0.7 percent during the same period.
