Lebanese Geophysics Center Records Earthquakes Following Massive Explosions by the Israeli Occupation in the South

Beirut, July 31 (KUNA) -- The Geophysics Center of the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research announced on Friday that it had recorded seismic waves resulting from massive explosions carried out by Israeli occupation forces in the Al-Shaqif area in southern Lebanon, likening them to earthquakes of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale. The center said via its account on the social media platform X that all its seismic stations detected, at midnight yesterday, seismic waves similar to earthquakes of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale, caused by violent explosions in the areas of Yihmar Al-Shaqif, Arnon, and Kafr Kinnia in southern Lebanon. The center noted that the echoes of the explosions were widely heard across various southern regions, with their tremors reaching the areas of Aley Al-Khroub and Khaldeh. The intensity of the shaking shattered windows in several homes and caused damage to some properties in the town of Al-Qlayaeh in the Marjayoun area, while the smell of gunpowder spread through the air. In a related development, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that occupation forces continued their ground operations by sweeping the outskirts of the towns of Mansouriya and Bayt Sayyad in the Sidon district, and shelling Mansouriya. It also noted the movement of tanks toward the town of Ainata in the Bint Jbeil district. The agency added that artillery shelling targeted the town of Taloussa, coinciding with the demolition and explosion of several caves and houses in the vicinity of Mansouriya and Majdal Zoun.
