US President Announces Gaza Peace Council Reaches Agreement on Hamas Weapons

Washington, July 30 (KUNA) -- U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the Gaza Peace Council had reached what he described as a “historic agreement” to disarm the Palestinian Hamas movement and all other armed groups in Gaza. In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said the announcement represented a “huge” step toward achieving lasting peace and security. He added that “this agreement marks a crucial step toward finally bringing Gaza under the control of a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people.” He emphasized that this constituted a “major achievement” in the implementation of his 20-point plan. Trump clarified that, upon completion of the disarmament process, Israeli occupation forces would withdraw, and an “international force” would work alongside a new Palestinian police force to ensure stability, assuming responsibility for guaranteeing the security of Gaza and the safety of its residents and neighbors. He thanked Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, the mediators, for their efforts that led to this “historic breakthrough.” (End) A.M.M. / M.A.H.A.
