Saudi Crown Prince Discusses with Bahrain's King Efforts to Enhance Regional Stability
Jeddah, July 30 (KUNA) -- Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman held a telephone conversation with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa on Thursday to discuss the latest regional developments and efforts to enhance security and stability in the region. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the King of Bahrain congratulated Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the establishment of the multinational maritime defense coalition and the selection of Saudi Arabia as its leader and permanent headquarters. The Bahraini monarch affirmed that this move “reflects international confidence in the Kingdom’s leading role in enhancing collective maritime security.” Earlier today in the capital Riyadh, the countries announced the formation of the multinational maritime defense coalition as a framework for maritime defense cooperation aimed at strengthening maritime security, safeguarding freedom of navigation, securing international trade routes and energy supply lines, and protecting shared maritime interests in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
