Egyptian Foreign Minister Discusses Regional Developments with Several Arab Counterparts

Cairo, July 30 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty held discussions with several of his Arab counterparts regarding recent developments in the region and the efforts underway to de-escalate tensions and contain instability. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Thursday that Abdelatty received phone calls from the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan; the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Jordan, Ayman Safadi, as part of continuous consultation and coordination on regional developments.

The statement clarified that the ministers emphasized the importance of an immediate halt to all military and escalatory actions, and prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions that contribute to restoring security and stability, while preventing the conflict from expanding. They also stressed the need to continue coordination and consultation among Arab countries during the current phase.

Furthermore, the ministers condemned the targeting of two ships at the port of Damietta in northern Egypt on Wednesday, firmly rejecting all attacks targeting civilian facilities or vital infrastructure, or those that threaten the security and safety of international navigation and trade. According to the statement, the ministers expressed their full solidarity with Egypt, emphasizing the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and preserve the security and stability of the region.

Earlier on Thursday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that Foreign Minister Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held a phone call with Minister Abdelatty, in which he expressed Kuwait’s condemnation of the attack on Egypt involving a drone that caused a fire aboard two ships at the port of Damietta on Wednesday. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Egypt and its support for all measures taken by Egypt to safeguard its sovereignty and ensure its security. (End) A.S.M. / M.A.A.
