Yemeni Foreign Minister: We will not allow our country to be used to threaten neighboring states and international navigation
Aden, July 29 (KUNA) -- Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Afrah al-Zoubi, affirmed on Wednesday that the security and stability of Yemen constitute a fundamental pillar of regional security, stressing Yemen’s rejection of the use of its territory as a platform to threaten neighboring countries or to undermine the security of navigation and international trade in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait in service of Iran’s project and the agenda of the terrorist Houthi militia.
In her first post on her official X account following her assumption of office, al-Zoubi stated that “the Ministry will work to harness Yemeni diplomacy to defend the supreme interests of the Republic of Yemen, enhance its regional and international presence, and mobilize support for the restoration of state institutions and the consolidation of security and stability.”
She added that the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are aware of the magnitude of the national responsibility at this stage, and that the Ministry will effectively deploy diplomacy to defend Yemen’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and republican system, and to back the choices of Yemenis in restoring their state and ending the coup by the terrorist Houthi militia, along with the resulting humanitarian tragedies and destruction of state institutions.
She noted that the Ministry will work to mobilize regional and international support, convey the Yemeni state’s messages, strengthen partnerships with brotherly and friendly nations, integrate with the Arab neighborhood, and coordinate with the coalition supporting legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
She pointed out that the Ministry will focus on building balanced relations with various countries based on shared interests, principles of good neighborliness, and mutual respect, reflecting Yemen’s commitment to international norms and treaties.
She clarified that Yemeni citizens, both at home and abroad, will be at the forefront of diplomatic priorities through the development of consular services, enhanced communication with Yemeni communities, and leveraging the expertise of Yemeni nationals abroad. (End) S.N.S./H.S.S.
