Trump threatens Iran: We will strike them with great force and they asked us not to do it... but they know what is coming
Washington, July 29 (KUNA) — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran knows the United States will deliver a very strong strike against it in response to the ballistic missile attack on U.S. forces in Jordan yesterday. In remarks to reporters at the White House, Trump threatened Iran, saying, “We will deliver a very strong strike; it is our turn to respond.” He added, “They know this strike is coming. They are asking us not to do it.”
Trump had earlier vowed to launch strong strikes against Iran in response to the Jordan attack, and also threatened militias allied with Tehran, describing them as “a cancer that consumes the world.” In a phone interview with Fox News, Trump said, “We will crush them completely. We will deliver strong strikes. They will suffer a devastating defeat.” Fox News quoted Trump as saying that U.S. forces had only a few minutes to respond to the surprise attack and managed to shoot down the incoming missiles before they reached their targets. He also mentioned that he had reviewed “a video showing U.S. military personnel identifying coordinates during the interception operation.”
In this context, Trump noted that the U.S.-Saudi strikes carried out overnight against Iran-backed militias in Iraq were conducted “in coordination with the Iraqi government.” He described those militias as “a cancer that consumes the world,” adding that there is an ongoing study to issue additional warnings against Iran’s proxies.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced via X that “the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempt to carry out a surprise attack on U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East,” confirming that “all Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted.” In another post on X, CENTCOM stated that U.S. and Saudi forces carried out precise strikes in Iraq against Iran-aligned terrorists whom the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps had directed to attack U.S. forces and Saudi Arabia’s energy infrastructure.
