Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa appointed President of the Qatar Football Association

Doha, July 28 (KUNA) -- The Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa as its president and Sheikh Tamim bin Mohammed as vice-president. The Qatar News Agency (QNA) quoted the QFA in a statement saying that the appointment decision was approved by the association’s executive board during its meeting today, adding that it aims to complete the current term of the board until 2027, with the decision to be ratified at the QFA’s General Assembly, scheduled to take place next September.

The QFA executive board had previously decided, during an earlier meeting, to nominate two candidates to fill the positions of president and vice-president following the resignation of QFA president Jassem Al-Buainain and vice-president Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. The executive board meeting also discussed the association’s activities and recent developments, as well as a report on the participation of the Qatar national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
