Paris, July 28 (KUNA) -- France expressed its deep concern on Tuesday over the violence that took place in the West Bank over the past few days, which resulted in casualties. In a statement, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “In light of the Israeli authorities’ announcement of a large-scale military operation in the West Bank, France calls on all parties to exercise calm and restraint.” The statement affirmed that the Israeli occupying army bears responsibility for protecting the civilian population, noting that the continued expansion of settlements and the accompanying escalation in violence committed by settlers contribute to heightened tensions.
