Egypt and Jordan Foreign Ministers Express Concern Over Dangerous Developments in Occupied Palestinian Territories

Cairo, July 28 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi expressed deep concern today, Tuesday, over the dangerous developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this came during a phone call between the two sides, as part of the continuous consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries on bilateral issues and regional developments of mutual interest. The statement said the call underscored the shared commitment to continue enhancing coordination and consultation within various bilateral and regional frameworks to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples, and to support security and stability in the region. It added that the two ministers condemned the ongoing violations by the occupation in the West Bank, Gaza, and occupied East Jerusalem, and the escalating violence and tensions witnessed there, emphasizing the necessity to halt all measures that undermine the prospects of achieving peace and the two-state solution. They also stressed the importance of implementing all aspects of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, which would contribute to consolidating the ceasefire, ensuring full access for humanitarian aid, and creating conditions for transitioning to subsequent phases. Regarding regional developments and efforts to de-escalate and contain rising tensions, the two ministers emphasized the importance of an immediate halt to all military and escalatory actions, and prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions to prevent the conflict from widening. The statement said the Egyptian minister reiterated his country’s full solidarity with Jordan, its rejection of any infringement on Jordan’s sovereignty, and its support for Jordan’s security and stability. For his part, the Jordanian foreign minister appreciated Egypt’s supportive stance toward his country, emphasizing the importance of continuing close coordination and consultation between the two countries in the coming period.
