Egypt condemns the incursion by occupation forces into the Qalandia training center of UNRWA

Cairo, July 28 (KUNA) -- Egypt today strongly condemned the incursion by Israeli occupation forces into the Qalandia training center, which is affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and the detention of students and staff inside the facility. In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a blatant violation of the inviolability of United Nations premises, and as a continuation of the ongoing escalation by the occupation forces, as well as the flagrant, condemned, and unjustified violations occurring in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank. These actions constitute a serious breach of international law, international humanitarian law, and the four Geneva Conventions concerning the protection of civilians under occupation. Egypt reaffirmed its firm rejection of all measures aimed at undermining UNRWA’s mandate or hindering its ability to carry out its humanitarian and relief duties. Egypt called on the international community, the Security Council, and the United Nations to fulfill their responsibilities and take urgent measures to halt the repeated violations by the Israeli occupation against United Nations facilities, and to ensure the protection of UNRWA, enabling it to continue fulfilling its UN mandate in a manner that contributes to safeguarding the rights of Palestinian refugees in accordance with resolutions of international legitimacy.
