Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Discusses Regional Security and Defense Cooperation with Two U.S. House of Representatives Members

Islamabad, July 27 (KUNA) -- The Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistani Armed Forces, Asim Munir, held talks today, Monday, with two members of the U.S. House of Representatives on a number of issues of mutual interest, including regional security, defense cooperation between Islamabad and Washington, and ways to enhance economic cooperation and prosperity.

The Pakistani Army’s Public Relations department stated in a press release that Munir received the two U.S. House members, Ryan Keith Zinke of Montana and Michael James of Washington, at the Army General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The statement quoted Munir as emphasizing during the meeting that “sustainable regional stability is fundamentally based on economic growth, trade expansion, and enhanced connectivity.” He noted that the Chief of Army Staff highlighted in this context the ongoing structural reforms in Pakistan aimed at creating an attractive business environment and attracting foreign investments.

The statement further clarified that the two sides discussed opportunities for economic cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, private-sector partnerships, and the enhancement of bilateral trade relations. (End) S.B.K. / M.A.A.
