Kuwait City, July 27 (KUNA) -- July 27:
1960 - Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah issued an emiri decree amending the name of the Finance Administration to the Finance and Economy Department, thereby expanding its jurisdiction to encompass all financial and economic matters in their general sense.
1975 - The Ministry of Oil established the Supervision and Coordination Committee for Oil Industries to formulate an implementation plan for the general policy of oil industries and to oversee the execution of this plan by companies and projects relying on oil and gas.
1991 - The first shipment of crude oil was exported following the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation.
1994 - Kuwait and Syria signed an agreement to establish a Kuwaiti holding company with a capital of $200 million, headquartered in Damascus, to cooperate in tourism, development, and investment sectors.
1997 - The Council of Ministers approved a draft law on health insurance for non-Kuwaitis, aiming to provide healthcare services to residents in the country through the mandated health insurance scheme.
1998 - Ramy Abdullah Tarqi Al-Rashidi won the gold medal in the 47th World Shooting Championships (Skeet category) held in the Spanish city of Barcelona.
2000 - Kuwait Petroleum Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with the Qatar General Petroleum Corporation and the American company ExxonMobil to supply Kuwait with gas from the Enhanced Gas Recovery project in Qatar’s North Field.
2007 - The Kuwaiti judo team was crowned champion of the 11th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Judo Cup held in Abu Dhabi.
2013 - Voting began to elect members of the National Assembly for its 14th legislative term, according to the five electoral districts system and the single-vote mechanism for candidates.
2016 - Engineer Majbel Sulaiman Al-Mutawa, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Scientific Center under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, passed away at the age of 62.
2017 - The Ministry of Media revoked the broadcasting license of Al-Kout satellite channel, in accordance with the provisions of the Audiovisual Media Law and in implementation of a ruling by the Court of Cassation regarding the so-called Abdali cell, which sentenced one of the partners in the company owning the channel to imprisonment.
2020 - The Council of Ministers decided to entrust the Central Agency for Information Technology with overseeing the implementation of the Unified Government Application for Electronic Services in the State of Kuwait (Sahl) and coordinating with relevant government entities to accelerate their integration and linkage with the application.
