Iraqi President and Lebanese Prime Minister Emphasize the Importance of Expanding Bilateral Cooperation Horizons

Baghdad, July 26 (KUNA) -- Iraqi President Nizar al-Amidi and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held talks today on Sunday covering the full spectrum of bilateral relations between their two countries, emphasizing the importance of maintaining dialogue and expanding cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields.

The Iraqi Presidency said in a statement that the discussions took place during President al-Amidi’s reception of Prime Minister Salam, who is on an official visit to Iraq leading a high-level delegation. The two sides reviewed developments in the region.

The statement conveyed al-Amidi’s reaffirmation of Iraq’s support for Lebanon’s security and its political and economic stability, stressing the importance of Lebanese national consensus and strengthening state institutions to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty and unity.

Al-Amidi added that the current phase requires concerted efforts to address ongoing challenges, reaffirming his country’s support for all initiatives that contribute to advancing Iraqi-Lebanese relations toward more effective partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
