Qatar's Emir Discusses Regional Developments with the British Prime Minister

Doha, July 26 (KUNA) -- The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held talks with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham today on Sunday regarding developments in the regional situation. The Qatari Diwan Al Amiri said in a statement that this came during a phone call received by the Emir of Qatar from the British Prime Minister, in which he expressed his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies on the passing of the late Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him. On his part, the Emir of Qatar expressed his gratitude and appreciation for these sincere sentiments, and conveyed his congratulations to Burnham on assuming the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, wishing him success and prosperity, and further development and growth for bilateral relations. During the call, the strategic cooperation relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed, along with ways to support and develop them in various fields. The Emir of Qatar praised the strength of these historical relations, which serve common interests and enhance the existing partnership. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the regional situation, particularly recent developments in the Gaza Strip, as well as diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and consolidating security in the Middle East region.
