Lebanese Prime Minister: Economic cooperation among regional countries is a "fundamental pillar" for strength, stability, and shared prosperity

Beirut, July 26 (KUNA) — Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed today that economic cooperation among regional countries constitutes a “fundamental pillar” of strength, stability, and shared prosperity, particularly when it is based on a vision that achieves mutual benefits. Salam, who is visiting the Iraqi capital Baghdad, posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account that Lebanon is “resolutely advancing” efforts to enhance connectivity and strategic integration projects with regional countries across various sectors, especially energy, telecommunications, and transport, thereby enabling the country to capitalize on opportunities presented by current transformations. He added that Lebanon looks forward to being an “active partner” with Iraq in shaping regional projects that open new horizons for investment and support development and sustainable growth pathways in both countries. The Lebanese prime minister expressed his pleasure and that of the accompanying government delegation at their visit to Iraq and their meetings with Iraqi President Nizar al-Ameri, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, and senior Iraqi officials. The Iraqi News Agency (INA) had previously reported that Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Abudi said al-Zaidi discussed with Salam, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Baghdad earlier today, a number of regional issues of mutual interest. Al-Abudi noted that the two sides also explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation channels in developmental and energy fields, alongside discussing regional and international issues.
