Lebanese Army: Occupation forces' attacks hinder deployment of our troops to establish stability in the south
Beirut, July 26 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Army affirmed today that the continued attacks by Israeli occupation forces and their violations of existing understandings and international laws are hindering the completion of its deployment and preventing residents from returning to their villages and towns, thereby obstructing the establishment of stability in the south.
The Lebanese Army command stated in a bulletin that Israeli occupation forces continue their attacks through the systematic destruction and bulldozing of homes, as well as shelling and sweeping operations in several areas, including Kafr Kila, Hittin, Kfar Kila, Nabe Abil al-Saqi, Mansouri, Bayt al-Siyad, and Majdal Zoun.
The bulletin added that the occupation forces blew up the water project belonging to the National Authority for the Litani River in the town of Markaba and set fire to extensive agricultural lands on the outskirts of Aitron. These actions coincided with gunfire near Lebanese Army concentration points in Kafr Kila, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and Zoutar al-Gharbiya, which obstructs the execution of the Lebanese Army’s missions.
It clarified that, in response, the Lebanese Army continues to facilitate the return of residents to Zoutar al-Gharbiya and carries out its missions in the areas of Frun and Sareeba, in coordination with the Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon.
In a related development, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Nabe Abil area witnessed bulldozing, home demolitions, and sweeping operations by occupation forces, coinciding with artillery shelling targeting the Ali al-Taher heights and the town of Maas al-Jabal. This was accompanied by intensive drone flights over the capital, Beirut, and its southern suburbs.
These field developments occur within the framework of the executive understandings of the Framework Agreement, signed between the two sides under U.S. sponsorship to end military confrontations. The Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon is responsible for direct coordination between the parties to ensure the gradual withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and the extension of Lebanese state sovereignty through the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the southern areas.
