Head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Warns Houthis Against Escalation and Serving Iran's Agenda

Aden, July 25 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi warned the Houthi militia on Saturday against continuing its escalation and gambling with the Yemeni people’s interests to serve Iran’s agenda, stressing that persisting in this approach would only drain the country’s resources and prolong the suffering of Yemenis.

In a statement published on his official account on the X platform, al-Alimi said the Yemeni government is committed to working with the coalition supporting legitimacy and its partners in the international community to achieve firm deterrence against threats, protect waterways, and combat terrorism, smuggling, and organized crime, considering these duties a national responsibility and a commitment to Yemen’s security, regional stability, and international peace and security.

He added that the Houthi militia and its backers insist, whenever there is an opportunity for de-escalation, on dragging Yemen into successive crises, ignoring the fact that the Yemeni people’s will and aspirations for statehood, dignity, security, and stability are not bargaining chips.

The chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed that the militia’s continued escalation will only lead to further suffering for Yemenis and the squandering of the country’s remaining resources, emphasizing the Yemeni people’s steadfast commitment to restoring state institutions and extending their authority over the entire national territory.
