Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Discusses Latest Security Developments in the Region with Basra Governor

Baghdad, July 25 (KUNA) – Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, held talks today, Saturday, with Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani of the Republic of Iraq, discussing a number of issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the latest developments in the security situation in the region.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Saturday that the meeting took place between Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef and the Governor of Basra, attended by several security and military leaders from the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

The statement added that the meeting reviewed areas of cooperation between the two sides and explored ways to enhance security coordination to support border security and serve shared interests within the framework of the fraternal relations uniting the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Iraq.

It noted that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, inspected the Al-Abdali border crossing at the conclusion of his visit, and personally assessed the extent of the damage inflicted on the crossing as a result of the unjust Iranian aggression.

According to the statement, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef directed the relevant authorities to swiftly assess the damages and take the necessary measures to reopen the crossing as soon as possible, ensuring the resumption of normal traffic and serving the interests of the two fraternal countries.
