Egyptian Foreign Minister Discusses with His Omani and Iranian Counterparts Efforts to De-escalate Tensions in the Region

Cairo, July 25 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty held discussions with his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, and his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on developments in the regional situation and efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring security and stability in the region. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Saturday that these talks took place during two phone calls conducted by Abdelatty with Al Busaidi and Araghchi, during which efforts to advance the de-escalation process were reviewed. The statement noted that the Egyptian foreign minister stressed the importance of an immediate halt to all military and escalatory actions, calling for the prioritization of political and diplomatic solutions that would help contain rising tensions, prevent the conflict from expanding, enhance regional security and stability, and spare the peoples of the region further escalation and its repercussions. He also emphasized the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, as they are fundamental pillars of regional security and stability, as well as of protecting international trade flows and global supply chains. Abdelatty underscored the necessity of avoiding any measures that could threaten the security of maritime corridors or expose them to risks, thereby preserving the interests of all countries in the region and the global economy.
