European Union expresses deep concern over escalating violence in the West Bank

Brussels, July 24 (KUNA) -- The European Union expressed deep concern on Friday over the escalating violence in the West Bank, calling for an end to inflammatory rhetoric and urging efforts to de-escalate tensions and halt the cycle of violence. In a statement, the EU offered its deepest condolences to the families of the victims who were killed, and wished the injured a swift and full recovery. It added that today’s events underscored “the fragility of the situation on the ground,” emphasizing the need for all parties to contribute to calming tensions and working to end the “vicious cycle of violence.”

Four Palestinians from the same family, including two brothers, were shot dead by Israeli occupation forces in the village of Tel, in the Nablus Governorate in the occupied West Bank. Four others were injured, three of them seriously.

The incident came as settlers attacked several Palestinian towns in the governorate, setting fire to homes, vehicles, and agricultural fields. Meanwhile, occupation forces raided a hospital in Nablus and arrested two patients. (End) A.R.N. / M.A.A.
