Washington, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- U.S. President Donald Trump urged Republicans in the Senate on Friday to pass the budget bill before the upcoming August recess, praising what he described as the Republicans’ major success in the House of Representatives in taking the first step toward approving the legislation. In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, “Thank you to all members of the Senate who opposed another Democratic attempt to undermine our national security.” He added, “I congratulate House Speaker Mike Johnson and the Republicans in the House on their great success in taking the first step toward passing the budget bill. It is an important step.” Trump considered the budget bill “to be one of the most important pieces of legislation in U.S. history,” affirming that it would strengthen the country’s military capabilities and provide support to farmers.
