Chief of Staff Discusses Military Cooperation Between Kuwait and Italy with His Italian Counterpart in Rome

Kuwait, April 24 (KUNA) — Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Sharhan, held talks with the Chief of the Italian Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Luciano Portolano, to explore avenues for military cooperation between the two friendly nations.

The Chief of Staff’s office stated in a press release on Friday that the meeting took place during Lt. Gen. Al-Sharhan’s official visit to the friendly Italian Republic, where he was accorded an official welcome ceremony at the headquarters of the Italian Chief of Staff in the capital, Rome.

The release added that the meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the friendly Italian Republic, and discussed ways to enhance joint military cooperation and strengthen the strategic defense partnership between the two friendly countries. It further noted that the current situation in the region and ways to bolster security and stability were also discussed.

It is worth noting that Lt. Gen. Al-Sharhan was accompanied on the visit by a delegation of senior commanding officers from the Kuwaiti Armed Forces. (End) A.H.K. / H.A.
