Kuwait City, July 24 (KUNA) -- On this day in history:

1959: Kuwait joined the International Telecommunication Union.

2001: Oklahoma-based Aviation Safety Network awarded the 2000 award to Kuwait Airways Corporation in recognition of its distinguished record in aviation safety.

2005: The Cabinet approved the establishment of a specialized company to manage the Bubiyan Port.

2012: The Central Bank of Kuwait announced that credit rating agency Fitch had affirmed Kuwait’s sovereign credit rating at ‘AA’ with a stable outlook.

2014: Kuwait Oil Company signed contracts with foreign firms worth 662 million Kuwaiti dinars to build three gathering centers in its operational areas in northern Kuwait fields.

2016: Petrochemical Industries Company received ISO 55001 certification for asset management, marking the first standard of its kind globally.

2022: An Amir’s decree was issued appointing retired First Lieutenant Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as Prime Minister, and entrusting him with nominating the members of his first cabinet.
