CENTCOM announces completion of the 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iran

Washington, July 24 (KUNA) -- The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday the completion of the 13th night of military strikes against targets inside Iran. In a statement, CENTCOM said that “the strikes carried out yesterday evening U.S. Eastern Time targeted Iranian military command centers, drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites, and naval capabilities.” The statement added that the strikes aim to reduce “the threat posed by Iran to civilian navigation and commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.” It noted that “the international waterway remains open to navigation despite recent attacks by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,” reaffirming that “commercial vessels continue to cross the strait freely, supported by U.S. military forces.” CENTCOM had announced on Thursday the start of a new round of strikes against Iranian military targets, marking the 13th consecutive night of attacks since the collapse of a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. This new wave of strikes follows regular attacks launched by the U.S. military two weeks ago after the breakdown of a diplomatic memorandum of understanding with Iran. (End) A.M.M. / M.A.H.A.
