US Army announces change of course for 12 commercial vessels and disruption of others since resumption of blockade on Iran

Washington, July 23 (KUNA) -- The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday that it had rerouted 12 commercial vessels and detained one other since the resumption of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports nine days ago. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, CENTCOM said, “Since the resumption of the naval blockade on Iran nine days ago, U.S. Central Command has rerouted 12 commercial vessels and detained one vessel.” It added that these measures were taken “to prevent ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports or coastal areas.” U.S. forces had resumed the naval blockade on ships heading to or coming from Iranian ports and coastal areas starting on July 14, in response to Iran’s targeting of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
