President of the Arab Parliament Condemns Houthi Attack on Saudi Ship in the Red Sea

Cairo, July 23 (KUNA) -- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi condemned on Thursday the Houthi militia’s attack on a Saudi ship in the Red Sea, calling on the international community to confront violations that threaten the security and safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies. In a statement, Al-Yamahi also condemned the Houthi militia’s remarks directed at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which included threats undermining the Kingdom’s security and stability, including threats to close the Bab al-Mandab Strait. He viewed these threats as an extension of a rejected escalation policy and a clear violation of international law, reiterating the Arab Parliament’s unequivocal rejection of any threat or aggression targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or undermining its security and stability. He stressed that the Kingdom’s security is an integral part of Arab national security, and that any targeting of the Kingdom or its interests constitutes a threat to regional and global security and stability. Al-Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and interests. He called on the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council to uphold their responsibilities and adopt a firm stance against these violations, and to establish measures and guarantees ensuring the protection of international maritime security and enhancing regional stability.
