German Defense Minister Emphasizes Importance of Investing in Modern Military Technologies

Berlin, July 23 (KUNA) -- German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius inaugurated a new factory for defense industry company Hensoldt in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwestern Germany on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of investing in modern military technologies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Pistorius said the new factory represents a clear commitment by Germany as an important industrial hub for military equipment, noting that Hensoldt is a key partner for the German armed forces in supplying the necessary equipment and military services. He added that investment in modern technologies is a fundamental element in ensuring Germany’s and Europe’s security in the future.

Prior to his visit to the company, which is part of a summer tour of German arms manufacturers, the minister inspected a military helicopter battalion in Kulsheim, where he reviewed the unit’s preparations for an upcoming mission within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The new factory specializes in producing vision systems for German army tanks, including the Puma, Leopard 2, and Luchs 2. According to Hensoldt, the cost of constructing and equipping the facility amounted to approximately 300 million euros ($350 million). (End)
