Minister of Youth: The Amir's patronage and attendance at the National Honoring Ceremony for National Team Champions Reflect the Political Leadership's Commitment to Youth and Athletes

Kuwait City, July 22 (KUNA) – State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, affirmed that the patronage and attendance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, at the National Honoring Ceremony for national team athletes and athletes from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 sports seasons, embodies the political leadership’s interest in youth and athletes, and its commitment to supporting achievers.

This was stated in a speech delivered by Minister Al-Jalahma during the ceremony, which honored 771 athletes and athletes from 39 sports entities, and was hosted today, Wednesday, at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre, organized by the Public Authority for Youth and Sports.

He noted that this honoring represents a message of appreciation and pride for every athlete who exerted effort and achieved honorable accomplishments for the country, emphasizing that investing in national sports talents is one of the fundamental pillars for developing the sports sector and enhancing a culture of excellence and achievement.

He reaffirmed the Public Authority for Youth and Sports’ continued cooperation with relevant authorities to provide a suitable environment for producing champions and developing the sports system, in line with a comprehensive vision based on supporting talents and elevating institutional performance, thereby contributing to achieving further accomplishments and raising the flag of the State of Kuwait in various sports competitions.

Al-Jalahma highly appreciated the patronage and attendance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, at the ceremony, describing it as a major motivation for athletes and underscoring the prominent status of the sports sector in the national development process.

For his part, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Bashar Abdullah, in a similar speech, affirmed that the ceremony reflects the state’s interest in recognizing sports achievers and demonstrates its commitment to consolidating a culture of excellence and celebrating those who raised the name of the State of Kuwait at various forums.

Abdullah stated that the Public Authority for Youth and Sports continues to support athletes across all categories and to provide a suitable environment that enables them to achieve further accomplishments. He added that the Authority is working to enhance competitive spirit among athletes, thereby contributing to raising performance levels and reaching podium finishes at all regional and international events.

He pointed out that the achievements of Kuwaiti athletes reflect the promising energies and talents possessed by the State of Kuwait, which deserve support and care, expressing his confidence in the ability of Kuwaiti champions to continue their successes and raise the national flag in various competitions.
