Egypt stresses the necessity of adhering to the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran

Cairo, July 22 (KUNA) -- Egypt affirmed on Wednesday the importance of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran and the necessity of adhering to it, while creating the necessary conditions to reach a final and sustainable agreement that enhances regional security and stability.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this position was expressed during a meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, who participated together in the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting held in Manila.

The statement said the meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, alongside exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.

It added that Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the efforts undertaken by Pakistan in coordination with regional partners, which contributed to reaching the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, emphasizing the importance of this step.

He pointed to the importance of building on the outcomes of the meeting of the four regional parties hosted by Cairo last June, to advance the negotiation process and bring together the views of the different parties.

Abdelatty affirmed the commitment to follow up on the implementation of the outcomes of his recent visit to Pakistan in March, expressing hope to hold the fourth session of the Joint Ministerial Committee, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries, and the tenth session of political consultations at the ministerial level, thereby contributing to giving an additional boost to bilateral relations and strengthening existing cooperation frameworks between the two sides.

He stressed the importance of enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries through organizing business missions and reciprocal visits between the business communities and chambers of commerce and industry, and linking Pakistani investors with promising investment opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, alongside looking forward to completing procedures for launching the Egyptian-Pakistani Business Council.

He praised the historical relations and close ties binding Egypt and Pakistan, affirming their commitment to continuing joint efforts to elevate the level of bilateral cooperation in various political, economic, commercial, and investment fields, and exploring new horizons for partnership that serve the mutual interests of the two countries and their peoples.
