Arab League Secretary-General affirms Saudi support in confronting accusations and distortions by the Houthi militia
Cairo, July 21 (KUNA) – Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy affirmed today his full solidarity and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of any actions that could undermine its security, stability, or sovereignty, in response to the accusations and distortions leveled by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom.
In a statement, Fahmy said that remarks made by the military spokesperson for the Houthi group, which included threats against Saudi Arabia, represent a serious and unacceptable escalation that could inflame tensions in the region and undermine efforts aimed at de-escalation and enhancing security and stability.
Fahmy called on the Houthi militia to cease its escalatory rhetoric and refrain from any actions or statements that could heighten tensions, emphasizing that prioritizing dialogue and committing to regional and international efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement of the Yemeni crisis remain the only path to achieving security and stability in Yemen and the region.
The Secretary-General reiterated that the security of Saudi Arabia and the integrity of its territory constitute an inseparable part of the Arab national security system, reaffirming support for all legitimate measures undertaken by the Kingdom to protect its national security and safeguard the integrity of its territory, in accordance with the provisions of international law and the United Nations Charter.
