Azraq finishes fourth in the second West Asian Championship in Muscat

Muscat, July 21 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti national men’s volleyball team finished fourth at the second edition of the West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, held in the Omani capital Muscat, after losing to Iraq in the third-place match by a score of 3-1. Iraq secured the victory over Kuwait in four sets with scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-23, and 25-18. This match marked the final appearance of both teams in the tournament, which will conclude later today with the final between Qatar and host nation Oman.

Kuwait had opened its campaign with a win against Syria in the group stage, before losing to defending champions Qatar, which placed them second in their group. In their semi-final match yesterday, Kuwait faced Oman, who won in straight sets to advance to the final against Qatar.

Saudi Arabia finished fifth after defeating Syria, who placed sixth, while Lebanon finished seventh and last.

Oman is hosting the second edition of the West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat from July 14 to 21, featuring seven national teams. The teams are divided into two groups: Group One includes Kuwait, Syria, and Qatar; Group Two comprises Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, and Oman.
