Bahrain strongly condemns Houthi terrorist threats to Saudi security and maritime navigation

Manama, July 21 (KUNA) – The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and rejection today, Tuesday, of the terrorist threats issued by Iran-backed Houthi militias against the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This came in a statement by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which also strongly condemned and rejected the claims, incitement, and irresponsible escalation contained in these threats, which undermine the security and stability of the region, pose a serious threat to maritime navigation and international trade, and target innocent civilians, in blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and relevant Security Council resolutions.

The ministry reaffirmed Bahrain’s firm position of full solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that Saudi security is an integral part of Bahrain’s security. It also emphasized Bahrain’s full support for the legitimate measures undertaken by Saudi Arabia to preserve its sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity.

It highlighted the need for concerted international efforts to protect the security of maritime navigation in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and other vital waterways, thereby safeguarding energy supply security and global trade flows.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic, humanitarian, and developmental efforts led by the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, which preserves Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and meets the aspirations of its brotherly people for security, stability, and sustainable prosperity.
