Kuwait's national volleyball team loses to Oman in the West Asia Championship semifinals

Muscat, July 20 (KUNA) – The Kuwaiti national volleyball team suffered a three-set defeat to Oman in the semifinals of the Second West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, which is being hosted in the Omani capital, Muscat. As a result of this loss, Kuwait will face Iraq in the third-place match on Tuesday, after both teams had earlier lost to Qatar by three sets apiece in matches played earlier today.

In today’s semifinal, the host nation Oman defeated Kuwait with set scores of 25-23, 27-25, and 25-22. The match, held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, was attended by Dr. Jaber Al-Mari, President of the Kuwait Volleyball Federation, and a large crowd of local supporters.

Kuwait had opened its campaign with a victory over Syria in the group stage, before losing to defending champions Qatar, which placed them second in their group.

The championship is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday with the third-place match between Kuwait and Iraq, followed by the final between Oman and Qatar.

In the fifth-place match held earlier today, Saudi Arabia defeated Syria in three straight sets to finish fifth, with Syria taking sixth place and Lebanon finishing seventh and last.

Oman is hosting the second edition of the West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat from July 14 to 21, featuring seven national teams: Kuwait, Syria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, and Oman.

The tournament is played in a round-robin format within each group, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals to compete for the title. (End) M.J.B / M.A.H.A
