(Ministry of Interior): Foiled attempt to smuggle 210 sheets of (A4) paper saturated with narcotics into the country

Kuwait City, July 20 (KUNA) – The Ministry of Interior, through the General Administration for Combating Narcotics, announced on Monday the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle 210 sheets of A4 paper saturated with narcotic substances into the country via an air cargo postal parcel.

In a statement, the Ministry said the operation led to the arrest of suspects of Asian nationality and the seizure of narcotics intended for trafficking, as part of the continuous efforts undertaken by the Criminal Security Sector to combat the smuggling and distribution of narcotic substances.

It clarified that, in coordination with the General Administration of Customs, inspection and examination efforts resulted in the discovery of the papers, despite their concealment as instructional booklets and their hiding inside 10 electric light bulbs.

The statement noted that after completing the necessary procedures, the recipient of the parcel was apprehended. Upon interrogation, he admitted that he was preparing to hand over the parcel to a second suspect. Additionally, 10 grams of methamphetamine (shabu) and a sensitive scale were found in their possession.

The suspects and seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them.

The Ministry reaffirmed its continued deployment of preemptive strikes against smugglers and distributors of narcotic substances, and its firm stance against any attempts to introduce these toxins into the country, emphasizing that it remains on high alert against anyone who dares to undermine societal security.
