Bahraini Foreign Minister and his Jordanian counterpart discuss regional developments

Manama, July 19 (KUNA) -- Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani held talks today, Sunday, with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on regional developments. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the call discussed the continuation of Iran’s despicable attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain, Jordan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which target infrastructure and vital facilities. These attacks were described as a serious escalation that threatens the lives and safety of civilians and constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. The two ministers also discussed the repercussions of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz on freedom of maritime navigation and the global economy, as well as efforts to preserve regional security and stability. They exchanged views on enhancing cooperation and joint coordination during Bahrain’s membership in the UN Security Council, along with other issues of mutual interest. The talks also covered the close fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the efforts being made to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.
