(SANTCOM): One US soldier killed, another injured in northern Iraq

Washington, July 19 (KUNA) -- U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday the death of one American soldier and the injury of another in northern Iraq. In a statement, CENTCOM said, “An American soldier was killed on Saturday during the disposal of unexploded ordnance from a crashed Iranian suicide drone in northern Iraq.” The statement added that the incident resulted in the injury of another soldier, who is still receiving medical treatment for a minor wound. Regarding the missing American soldier in Jordan, following the deaths of two U.S. soldiers in Iranian attacks two days ago, the statement said that search operations have uncovered unidentified remains at the site, which are currently undergoing testing and verification to confirm their identity.
