Palestinian Presidency warns of repercussions of settlers and occupation forces' escalation in the West Bank and Gaza

Ramallah, July 19 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian Presidency warned today, Sunday, of the repercussions of the “dangerous” escalation following settler attacks, backed by Israeli occupation forces, which targeted numerous villages and towns, resulting in the burning of homes and a mosque, the destruction of property, the theft of livestock, and the burning of dozens of olive trees.

Spokesman for the Presidency Nabil Abu Rudeineh, in a press statement broadcast by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), stated that the occupation’s comprehensive war in the Gaza Strip, along with its continued policy of killing and destruction—most recently the martyrdom of dozens of citizens and the destruction of their homes—necessitate urgent international intervention to secure a ceasefire and begin implementing the second phase of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2728.

He placed full responsibility for the settlers’ crimes on the occupation forces, describing them as the primary supporter that provides protection, backing, and impunity for the settlers.

Abu Rudeineh called on the US administration to take immediate and serious action to compel the occupation forces to halt their aggressive policies and enforce a ceasefire, if it wishes to succeed in efforts to stop the escalation and achieve stability across the entire region.

He stressed that the Palestinian people would remain steadfast on their land, and that these crimes would not succeed in legitimizing the occupation or imposing facts on the ground. He affirmed that the Palestinian people would attain their legitimate national rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
