Egypt calls for pressure on the Israeli occupation to halt its violations in the occupied Palestinian territories

Cairo, July 19 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Ati called on Sunday for mobilizing international support and pressuring the Israeli occupation authorities to comply with international law and cease their violations in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this came during a meeting between Minister Abdel Ati and a delegation from the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, led by Koli Seku, during the Jerusalem Conference organized by the Committee in cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Cairo. The statement quoted Minister Abdel Ati emphasizing that security and stability in the region can only be achieved by restoring the Palestinian people’s legitimate and inalienable rights. Abdel Ati condemned the ongoing violations by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, and repeated violations against religious sanctuaries in the occupied Palestinian territories. He urged the UN committee to continue its role in mobilizing international support within the United Nations and to exert pressure to compel the occupation authorities to respect international law. He also reiterated his country’s support for the UN committee’s vigorous efforts to back the Palestinian cause, considering it a fundamental pillar for achieving security and stability in the Middle East region, while stressing Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace the Palestinian people from their land. For their part, the chairman and members of the committee expressed their appreciation for the historic and pivotal role Egypt plays in defending Palestinian rights at various international forums.
