Emir of Qatar holds talks session with Iraqi Prime Minister in Doha

Doha, July 19 (KUNA) -- The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zoubaidi held official talks today at the Lusail Palace in the Qatari capital, Doha. The Qatari Diwan Al Amiri said in a statement that at the outset of the session, the Emir of Qatar welcomed the Iraqi Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, expressing his wish for further development and growth in the fraternal relations between the two countries across various fields. For his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister conveyed his condolences and sympathies to the Emir of Qatar on the passing of the late His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, praying to God Almighty to have mercy on him and grant him a place in His vast Paradise. He also expressed his gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for the warm reception, looking forward to the visit contributing to the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries to broader horizons. During the session, the bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields were discussed, along with the most prominent regional and international issues and developments, particularly the evolving situation in the region. Both sides emphasized the necessity for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement what was agreed upon within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and enhancing regional stability.
