Minister of Social Affairs: The safety of persons with disabilities is our top priority

Kuwait City, 18 July (KUNA) -- Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Dr. Amthal Al-Hawila affirmed today, Saturday, that the safety of persons with disabilities is a top priority for the ministry. The ministry is in continuous contact with the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities to monitor the conditions of all care homes, ensuring their readiness and the continued efficient delivery of services, alongside the ongoing review of emergency plans.
This statement was made by Minister Al-Hawila in a press briefing following an inspection visit to the Al-Sabahya Center for Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, which is affiliated with the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities. The visit aimed to ensure the safety of residents and staff and to verify the center’s readiness to handle any emergencies.
Minister Al-Hawila stated that the tour is part of the follow-up on the repercussions of recent security developments and aims to closely monitor the conditions of residents and the level of health and social care provided to them. She added that she inspected various facilities within the center and reviewed the readiness of shelters, evacuation and emergency plans, and the preventive measures implemented to ensure the highest levels of protection and safety for everyone.
She noted that field visits and direct monitoring of all care homes and centers affiliated with the authority will continue, along with ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the continuous provision of care and protection services to beneficiaries and to safeguard their well-being under all circumstances.
