Turkish authorities arrest 119 suspects linked to ISIS in 30 provinces

Istanbul, July 18 (KUNA) -- The Turkish Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday the arrest of 119 individuals, some of whom are suspected of belonging to the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization, while others were promoting it. The arrests were carried out across 30 provinces throughout Turkey.

In a post on its Turkish social media platform “In Social,” the ministry stated that the operations were conducted in coordination between the Counter-Terrorism Department of the General Command of Gendarmerie and public prosecutor’s offices. It noted that some suspects promoted the organization through their social media accounts, while others financed its activities through individuals linked to it or via entities operating under the guise of charitable organizations.

The ministry emphasized that public prosecutor’s offices across Turkey have opened investigations against the suspects, while reaffirming that security forces will continue their operations against ISIS activities and its financial networks. (End) T.A. / A.M.S.
