Egyptian Foreign Minister Discusses Regional Developments and Middle East Evolutions with U.S. Envoy

Cairo, July 18 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Ati held talks today, Saturday, with U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff on regional developments and recent developments in the Middle East. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the discussion took place during a phone call, during which both sides exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East in the context of military escalation and within the framework of continuous consultation and coordination between Egypt and the United States. The statement noted that Minister Abdel Ati emphasized Egypt’s support for all efforts aimed at resolving the current crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means, welcoming the progress achieved through the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran. He stressed in this regard the necessity of adhering to the memorandum of understanding, which he viewed as a constructive step toward de-escalating tensions and enhancing security and stability in the region. For his part, Witkoff appreciated Egypt’s role in supporting efforts to achieve regional stability and the efforts it is making in coordination with the relevant parties to encourage dialogue and bridge differences.
