Iranian Guard attacks new ship near Strait of Hormuz

Tehran, July 17 (KUNA) -- The Iranian Revolutionary Guard targeted a commercial vessel flying the Thai flag today, Friday, alleging that it had attempted to “without permission” cross the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf. Tasnim, a semi-official Iranian news agency, quoted a source in the Iranian Guard as saying that “the ship ignored Iranian warnings and attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz without authorization from the Revolutionary Guard Navy, which led to it being targeted and prevented from passing,” according to the Iranian agency. This comes as the United States launches strong nightly strikes against Iran in response to Tehran’s targeting of international commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.
