Minister of Electricity Inspects the Accident Site at the Power and Water Desalination Plant
Kuwait City, July 17 (KUNA) – Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al-Makhzouim conducted an inspection visit to the site of the incident at the power generation and water desalination plant to assess in person the damage caused by the brazen attack, monitor the progress of response and emergency operations, and review the technical measures taken to contain its repercussions.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the ministry said that Minister Al-Makhzouim received a detailed technical briefing during the visit, which was accompanied by the Governor of Ahmadi, Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Adel Al-Zamil, on the nature of the damages and the urgent measures implemented from the first moments of the incident.
The statement added that Al-Makhzouim was briefed on rehabilitation and repair plans underway to restore the damaged units to service in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency and safety, and closely observed the efforts of security, safety, fire-fighting teams, and the engineering and technical personnel working at the site.
He commended the rapid response and high level of competence demonstrated by the field teams, as well as their continuous round-the-clock efforts to restore normal conditions as quickly as possible. He emphasized that the ministry is operating at full capacity, deploying all its technical and human resources in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the continuity of electricity and water production and to mitigate any potential repercussions of the incident, while praising the dedication and loyalty of the workers in fulfilling their national duty.
The statement noted that the minister directed the continuation of assessment and repair works in accordance with the highest quality and safety standards, with ongoing close field monitoring and acceleration of operations to address all impacts of the incident and return the damaged units to their normal operational status.
