Qatar strongly condemns the renewed Iranian attacks on its territory and that of Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan

Doha, July 17 (KUNA) – Qatar strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attacks on its territory and on the territories of Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, deeming them a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the targeted states, and a flagrant breach of international law, the UN Charter, and principles of good neighborliness. In a statement issued on Friday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the continuation of these attacks constitutes a dangerous escalation that could complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in the region. It held Iran fully legally responsible for these attacks and their ensuing repercussions and consequences. The ministry also reaffirmed Qatar’s full right to respond in accordance with international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter, and to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and citizens. It reiterated Qatar’s full solidarity with sister states and its support for any legitimate measures they undertake to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. It stressed the urgent need for an immediate and complete halt to all military actions and attacks threatening the region’s security and stability, and for refraining from any steps that could widen the scope of escalation, as well as for a serious return to dialogue and negotiations, and commitment to the understandings achieved through diplomatic efforts.
