Annual inflation rate in the Eurozone falls to 2.8% in June

Brussels, July 17 (KUNA) – Official data released on Friday showed that the annual inflation rate in the euro area fell to 2.8 percent in June, down from 3.2 percent in May, while inflation in the European Union declined to 2.9 percent, compared to 3.3 percent during the same period.

Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, said in a report that the annual inflation rate in the euro area reached 2.0 percent in June 2025, while it stood at 2.3 percent in the EU during the same month last year.

The report clarified that the lowest annual inflation rates among member states were recorded in Sweden at 1.0 percent, followed by the Czech Republic at 1.1 percent, and Denmark at 1.8 percent. Romania recorded the highest inflation rate at 9.2 percent, followed by Lithuania at 5.4 percent, and Bulgaria at 5.2 percent.

It added that annual inflation rates declined in 22 member states in June compared to May, remained stable in three countries, and rose in two countries.

Eurostat noted that the services sector was the largest contributor to the annual inflation rate in the euro area in June, adding 1.51 percentage points, followed by the energy sector with an addition of 0.77 percentage points, then the food and tobacco sector with 0.29 percentage points, and finally non-energy industrial goods with 0.18 percentage points.
