(Ministry of Electricity and Water): One of the power and desalination plants was attacked, resulting in damage to its facilities

Kuwait City, July 17 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced on Friday that, as a result of the unjust Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, one of its power generation and desalination plants was attacked, causing damage to its facilities, a fire, and significant harm to numerous power generation units. This necessitated the activation of emergency plans and immediate response to mitigate the incident’s impact and safeguard the stability of the electrical grid.
The ministry added that the General Fireforce teams responded immediately, successfully containing and extinguishing the fire. Meanwhile, technical and emergency teams affiliated with the ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities, implemented necessary technical and precautionary measures to assess the damage, secure the plant, and restore the affected units to service as quickly as possible, while adhering to the highest safety standards.
The ministry clarified that technical teams are working around the clock to maintain the stability of the electrical grid and ensure uninterrupted service, with continuous monitoring of grid indicators and the implementation of all necessary measures to minimize any potential impact on the system.
The ministry appealed to citizens and residents to cooperate during this exceptional phase by conserving electricity consumption, as this has a direct impact on supporting the stability of the national electrical grid, enabling technical teams to manage the system efficiently, and ensuring continuous service across the country.
It emphasized that public awareness and cooperation under these circumstances constitute an integral part of the national efforts to address the repercussions of this aggression, and that every contribution to conserving consumption enhances the electrical grid’s capacity to overcome this phase and supports repair and rehabilitation efforts for damaged facilities as swiftly as possible.
